Hamilton to Thunder Bay. August 1st, 2008 to August 10th, 2008

THE PLAN

To push the envelope on endurance, determination and will by touring the road between Hamilton and Thunder Bay. When successful, it will be the stepping stone for more lucrative tours. The detailed plan, as follows, is ideal case to reach the goal, however may deviate due to unforseen circumstances.

THE ROUTE

The route includes 7 stops. The route is the plan for the sake of benchmark, however no one will be disappointed if the checkpoints are not met. The stops are as follows:

Preparation in Hamilton (Checkpoint A)
Hamilton to Owen Sound (Checkpoint B)
Owen Sound to Espanola (Checkpoint C)
Espanolia to Sault St. Marie (Checkpoint D)
Sault St. Marie to Lake Superior Park (or Wawa) (Checkpoint E)
Lake Superior Park (or Wawa) to White River (Checkpoint F)
White River to Terrance Bay (Checkpoint G)
Terrance Bay to Thunder Bay (Checkpoint H)

THE SUPPLIES

Protien Supplies (powder preferably)
Light snacks for the road
Cash for the road
Possible Tent & Sleeping Bag
Camelpak for water with extra reservoir
Two pairs of shorts, two pairs of shirts, plenty of underwear and socks
Be prepared for rain, we're riding rain or shine
Pannier for the bike
Spare tubes, patch kit, pump, high pressure pump, first aid kid, etc.

THE CHECKPOINTS

Preparation in Hamilton (Checkpoint A)

July 31st, 2008 at Noon

Purchase any equipment or food

Prepare bike and packs at noon, tune up bikes, install slicks, stock up on tubes, ensure proper tools are included.

Hamilton to Owen Sound (Checkpoint B)

Friday, August 1st, 2008 at Sunrise

Descend on Journey before 8am

Arrive in Owen Sound before Midnight

Stay at one of the following motels:

Cost: $95 for 1 bed motel room at most, resverations needed soon because of long weekend

Owen Sound to Espanola (Checkpoint C)

Saturday, August 2nd, 2008 at Wakeup

Depart when I wake up

Stop along the way for food

Bike to the ferry

Take the ferry

Stay at one of the these motels

Cost: 95 for 2 bed motel room at most

Espanola to Sault St. Marie (Checkpoint D)

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008 at Wakeup

Depart when I wake up

Stop along the way for food

Motels in Sue St. Maire

Cost: 95 for 2 bed motel room at most

Sault St. Marie to Lake Superior Park (or Wawa) (Checkpoint E)

Monday, August 4th, 2008 at Wakeup

Depart whenever we wake up

Pack 2 days worth of food & water

Arrive at Awaga Campsite or a Wawa Motel

Cost: $30 for camp site or $60 for motel room at most

Lake Superior Park (or Wawa) to White River (Checkpoint F)

Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 at Wakeup

Depart when I wake up

Stop on the way for food

Arrive in White River, ON and stay at a motel

Cost: $60 for motel room at most

White River to Terrance Bay (Checkpoint G)

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008 at Wakeup

Depart when I wake up

Stop on the way for food

Arrive in Terrance Bay and stay at a motel

Cost: $60 for motel room at most

Terrance Bay to Thunder Bay (Checkpoint H)

Thursday, August 7th, 2008 at Wakeup

Depart when I wake up

Arrive in Thunder Bay, Ontario

Stay at Eric's house

Hang out, check out the area

THE BUDGET

Food cost: 3 meals x $15 x 7 days = $315 at most
